Commander Haji Norbahrin bin Haji Muamad, RBN was from the Boy's Company 15th Intake and started serving the Royal Brunei Navy in 1995. He started his first few years studying for the BTEC National Diploma in Electronic, Electrical and Communication at South Devon College, UK from June 1995 until June 1997. In September 1997, he continued his study for his First Degree at Salford University, Manchester, UK in Electronic Engineering and graduated in June 2000. He was commissioned to Naval Officer in September 2001 after completing his Officer Cadet Course at Royal Britannia Naval College, Dartmouth, UK 2001. Later, he was then attended the System Engineering Management Course (SEMC), in Portsmouth, UK at HMS COLINGWOOD before appointed to be a Project Naval Overseer (PNO) in the Weapons Department at Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom in 2002. Later in 2005, he served as an Aide-de-Camp (ADC) to the Deputy Minister of Defence for 3 years. He had an opportunity to further his studies under the programme Master of Science (MSc) in Applied Physics from 2007 until 2009 at Post Graduate Naval School, Monterey, United States of America.
After completing his studies, he was assigned to be a Project Naval Overseer in the Weapons Department at Bremen, Germany until 2011. Commander Haji Norbahrin spent his formative years onboard KDB DARUSSALAM (Patrol Vessel) as a Weapon Engineering Officer (WEO) and participated in the Exercise of the Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC), US in 2013.
Ashore, Commander Haji Norbahrin has served as Commanding Officer Base, Commanding Officer Maintenance and Assistant Chief of Staff Logistic (N4) before being posted to the Office of Strategic Management, Ministry of Defence as a Strategic Management Officer from November 2021 to June 2023. In his role, he helped to oversee the Strategic Management Corporate Map for the Ministry of Defence to assess the strategic implications of national policy objectives that led to the reshaping and modernising of the armed forces. He completed his Balanced Scorecard Certification Program with the Center for Excellence in Public Leadership, the George Washington University at Gold Coast, Australia in May 2023. In June 2023, he was appointed as the Head of the Inspectorate Cell (HIC) in the Royal Brunei Navy.
Commander Haji Norbahrin is married to Hazirah and is blessed with three children.
